Nikita Bastin is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, studying Biology and English. She works as a Sexual Assault Counselor at Women Organized Against Rape, covering shifts on a 24-hour hotline for victims of sexual violence. In this capacity, she helps victims through their responses to trauma and connects them to resources for extended care. She is also on the executive board of Abuse and Sexual Assault Prevention at Penn, helping organize weekly dialogues on sexual violence as well as the annual rally for survivors, Take Back the Night. She is committed to supporting victims and to ending sexual violence. As a Student Fellow with the Ortner Center, she hopes to research and develop violence prevention programs, particularly for victims in at-risk populations, and to help organize events that encourage dialogue around domestic violence.
