Anna Estep discovered a passion for criminal justice reform while a junior at Penn studying mechanical engineering. Through the Nursing class "Women and Incarceration" she was introduced to the struggles
imprisoned women face before, during, and after incarceration. She served as a TA for that same class, and
her goal as a TA as "to provide the students with an enriching and valuable experience that opens their eyes to the problems in our criminal justice system while simultaneously providing the women we work with valuable tools and information to help them thrive once they are released." Anna was among the inaugural group of student volunteers with the Ortner Center's From Cell to Home project in which students developed and submitted petitions for clemency to the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons on behalf of select women inmantes.
