Ally Johnson

School of Arts & Sciences

Ally, a junior in the School of Arts and Sciences studying political science, is participating in the "From Cell to Home for Women Lifers" project with the Ortner Center. She is among the students who are interviewing incarcerated women via video then reading prison records and drafting dossiers for submission to the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons. Ally has looked at various aspects of the legal system – tenants’ rights, Medicaid funding, transportation accessibility (interning with the Public Interest Law Center), segregation of children with disabilities, prison reform, consumer protection (Mountain State Justice [West Virginia]), and, in early 2018, is interning with the Scottish Parliament (Edinburgh) for the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, who is responsible for all policy relating to criminal justice and the legal system in Scotland.
